Can one of you successfully connect to when connected directly to the cable modem through ethernet?  Be sure that when you try this troubleshooting step that you do a complete reset of the network every time you change the device connected to the modem. To do this, shut everything off. Wait about 5 minutes. Turn on the modem first, and wait another 5 minutes. Then turn on the device that is connected directly to the modem.  Report back what you find.

 Alright,..I really respect and appreciate you guys(Steve) responding, so I'm replying to advise you We're both back online and let you know everything's stabilized now, but D@#mnit, this site better not time me out again after I'm finished typing all this out because it's all pertinent.  The 2nd time I was halfway through, and like a dumbash, I thought, "I'll just hit refresh, and I'll buy more time,..WRONG!! It erased the whole screen.
 This is gonna be the 3rd and final time I type this reply, SO JUST TO CUE ALL OF YOU IN OUT THERE WHO TYPE SLOW AND AND HAVE ADHD, DO NOT TAKE TOO LONG AND JUST KEEP TYPING YOUR ASh OFF UNTIL UR THROUGH, AND DON'T HIT REFRESH!!

 Anyways, I ended up calling COX cable tech support , for the 5th or 6th time(graveyard shift) and as soon as I heard this guy talking, I immediately knew that all of the previous reps I spoke with earlier (2nd shift) were either rookies, or just plain in a hurry to usher me off of the line, and that this guy was a pro. He told me I had the LAN/WAN lines backwards (which all of the previous reps had told me they were in right).  He then proceeded me to advise me on the proper order  of steps to successfully reconnect;

1) Unplug both power sources for modem and router as well as all ethernet cables.
2) Replug power for modem and router
3) Plug in the ethernet LAN cable coming from the tower into port #1 on router for LAN
4) Plug WAN cable into WAN port on router, then plug the other end into modem
5) ipconfig renew/release

Now that had ME online correctly via wireless network connection, but my girls' PC was still getting that "page cannot be displayed" page when she tried to connect to IE, and the rep advised me that this is to the extent that he could assist me since I do not have a COX router, and that our problem sounds like a "routing problem", and that she would need to contact tech support for DLink.
 So I thanked him kindly and started playing RPG's until the sun came up and my girl went straight to bed dripping/seething with animosity and jealousy that I could get on line, and she couldn't.  But the beat goes on...
 So My girl tells me today that she unistalled/reinstalled the software for the router on her PC and now she can connect to IE. So problem now solved.

Now this is unrelated to wireless networking, but I figured it would be more efficient to just ask this on this thread instead of starting a whole new one.

I retired the original Dell mouse that came with my Dell PC, and am using a zoomba??(never heard of it before, but my girl had it just lying around,brand new), and she doesn't know why either but, This mouse has a USB plug so it plugs into the front of my tower which is cool but, every time I bring my PC out of Hibernation to fire it up, I get a ballon message at the lwr right hand corner stating USB device not recognized, and the mouse arrow is static.
 BUT when I then unplug and replug, it works, and the message goes away. I am just wanting to know if this is correctable??

Hey man, Thanks again for your willingness to assist, and let's all keep rockin' and rollin'

Glad you got your networking problem solved.  Having the cables plugged in to the wrong port is always a difficult thing to see over the internet.

As for the mouse/hibernation problem, is this a desktop PC?  If so, hibernation mode is nearly always problematical on desktop computers, mainly because the function is not critical on desktops to save battery life so manufacturers do not take the detailed steps neccessary to ensure that their devices and drivers always work with hibernation (and standby).  Nevertheless, it may be a driver problem.  If you can find the latest drivers for the mouse device, you might try installing them and see if that solves the problem.  I am not familiar with a "zoomba", and could find nothing on it with a simple Google search.  Perhaps if you could provide more information on this device I could be further help.
