Problems with connecting to the internet

Maybe a couple of questions.  Hope someone could help.  As of last night I have not be able to access the internet.  I get the "page cannot be displayed" message.  According to my internet provider everything seems to be fine just a little slow as last night.  I sent them another message wondering if they had any idea.  Here's what I have noticed.  When I look at my Network Connections I have gone into the local Area Connection status.  The connection portion of that screen seems fine.  What I noticed is in the activity side.  Where the "sent" side is there is no number (so in my mind nothing is being sent from my computer), but on the received side I have a number (sorry can't remember what it was).  I have no way of looking at my computer right now since I'm at work for another 2 hours.  So if anyone has an idea what could be the problem.  Please let me know.
