problems with hawking HWP54G wireless-g pci card

I'm trying to set up a hawking HWP54G wireless-g pci card with a linksys WRT54G wireless-g router on my brother's and dimension 8300 (running XP pro and is well equiped, definitely enough to handle the card) so he can get internet up stairs in his room. i use the router for a wired connection to the other computer that i am on right now and i've had the router for about a year and that's all it's been used for. i am pretty sure the wireless part of the router isn't the problem.

any way, i followed the instructions for installing the HWP54G, which asked me to install the drivers/connection software and then physically install the card in that order. i did so and i followed the instructions to open the software installed on the computer. it attempted to search for a network but didn't find anything, when it did occasionally find something it would say "" and if i try to connect it would say i can't connect to a hidden network and to go to modify and enter the network name, assuming that means SSID, it was already entered in correctly. the second scan i did when trying to set this up i got a "best" signal but when i tried to connect i had a blue screen pop up and said it has to dump memory and that it made a horible error. see the picture link below for what it said.

 tried many things:
i matched all of the information from the router to the computer (SSID/predered SSID, channel [tried channels 1,2,5,6,8, and 11 also], mode [tried b and g mixed mode and g-only mode], BSS type [tried access point and auto], Tx Rate [Auto], IBSS protection [disabled and enabled], etc). moved computer from upstairs to right next to the wireless router. i disabled norton firewall and left it off during all of this. i verified that it was installed correctly with the device manager and it says it's working. to make sure the router wasen't the problem, i updated the firmware, no help there.

i did some searching and i found two reviews on this product which said the person called tech support (NOT tell-free and they said it was horrible customer service) and customer service said they shipped the incorrect software and emailed the user new software. however, both customers said the new software didn't help. so, i'm wondering if this is the problem i am encountering. should i just take this thing back and replace it with a linksys brand one?

i've spent the last 5 or so hours on this and i am out of ideas. if anyone has any ideas or advice i would really appreciate it. thanks in advance.

From this search on google, it looks like this card uses the same chipset as the Linksys, D-Link, Asante, and others.  You might try using a Linksys driver.  The BSOD is because of the tnet1130.sys file, the wireless card driver.

thank you so much. i am estatic right now. i struggled with trying to install new drivers and then tried some sort of firmware for linksys and nothing was working and then i was hopelessly messing around and something made it work, i don't even know what but i am happy either way. thanks again.
