Again. There is nothing wrong with my internet nor my router. Like I've said before, 2 others PCs (non-Vista OS) are using the same router/modem and there is nothing wrong. When I have people come over and they use my modem router there are no problems whatsoever.

When it comes to ethernet adapter, I actually installed newest drivers from Intel yesterday. Still the same problem! I even bought Dell PC Tune to have it run and see if there are some problems with my configuration...

Nothing works. The funny part is when I switch to wireless (I have a built in Wireless card) these problems do not occur. When I turn on my PC, it is immediately connected to the internet. When I turn on my pc with the ethernet connection, I have the issue of 2 netoworks (one local + one unknown) and I have to disable and enable the adapter to have it pick up the internet again.

But I will try and contact AT&T about this tonight, but I am sure it's a Vista related problem.

If anyone has anything, don't hesitate to post. I really need to find a solution to this!

My first thought is the network drivers having a problem, but disabling the network adapter and then re-enabling it is the same as rebooting.  This makes me think it is a problem with your 2Wire modem/router, or possibly (the lack of) software required to authenticate your connection to the AT&T netowrk (e.g. a PPPoE connection, or something similiar).

Have you contacted AT&T about the problem already?

If other computers are connecting to the same router without problems then I have to agree that the router is most likely not the problem.

Are any of the working computers running Vista?  That would at least help identify whether it is a Vista problem, or something specific to your computer.

Larry, all the other computers connected to the router/dsl are either Windows XP Home w/ SP3 or Windows XP 2005 Media Center Edition. They have no problems at all. Even a friend who had Windows 98 SE connected didn't have any problems.

As the the question about Trend Micro Suite. That would be a yes. I run this program on my Vista XPS 420, but I also run on my other computers(above mentioned).

If you have been on the XPS board there were posts of the Trend micro interfering with the network connections on the 420. That is why i brought it up. I would suggest you try disabling it for a short time to see if the same symptoms occur

Uninstalled the anti-virus/firewall completely. Did not use Windows firewall. Same exact problem.

I've been googling the issue and apparently every other person has this issue! It's bizzare. It seems Vista is definately the on to blame...

Any other suggestions? I will gladly accept them all!

Seems there was also an issue with the cards themselves have you searched this issue on the XPS forum?

I know there were other posts there.
