Problems with Wireless networking
Hi!
I have a wireless router 2350 (Dell) with 2 computers connected.
Both are using Windows XP Home SP2.
One is using a wireless d-link network card.
The other one a wired ethernet card.
Internet sharing works fine, but the problem is filesharing between both computers.
I've tried the windows help which says how to share files, but no luck.
The computers have been set up in windows to allow filesharing and be part of the same network.
When I open the folder "Show all Computers in the group" it displays both but I can't open/access them to see the shared files.
Now, I'm asking you, please help me?

Make sure that the Windows XP firewall has File and Printer Sharing checked off on the Exceptions tab. If you are running any third party firewalls, like those provided by such programs as Zone Alarm, Norton Internet Security, or McAfee Security Center, make sure they are configured to allow local network traffic.

The windows firewall are turned off on both computers.
Both computers are using third party firewalls and both are set to allow local network traffic. Unfortunately, neither one can still get access to the other.
What happens when trying to access is a error message:
"*ComputerName* is not available, You might not have permission to use this resource...
Access denied."

Seems like a really complicated issue.
Even though all firewalls (except one in the router) are disabled, filesharing won't work.
One thing I've been wondering about is, could it be that access between wireless < > wired is somewhat closed?
Would I need 2 computers with wireless cards in order to make filesharing work?

File sharing doesn't care what kind of network it is. A network is a network is a network, whether it is wireless or wired, they all work the same. So, no, this in not your problem. Are you sure that file and printer sharing is enabled on all computers? On several long threads on these forums I have asked repeatedly if the user is absolutely sure that all firewalls are configured to allow file and printer sharing. After being assured that they have, with many messages back and forth, the user finally comes back and says something like - I finally got it to work when I realized that Norton Internet Security (or McAfee, or ZoneAlarm) has a firewall that needed to be configured properly. So rather than ask this question again, I will ask - Do you have any Norton products running on these computers? If so, which one(s). Do you have any McAfee products running on these computers? If so, which one(s). Did you download and install Zone Alarm?

The default router settings should allow file and printer sharing.

I have McAfee Personal Firewall installed on 1 computer. My LAN is enabled as Trusted IP's.
The other computer uses Windows XP Firewall but it's turned off.
So is the winXP firewall on the mcafee used computer.
However, I did just checked a checkbox for FileSharing, I will try that, but the other computer should be enabled for filesharing as it has no third party firewall.
Are there any router settings I should keep in mind?
