problems with WLAN 1397 Half MiniCard and security

I have a Dell Inspiron mini 10v with a WLAN 1397 Half MiniCard. I have just installed a new wireless router in the house, Netgear WNDR3400v2. Every one of the other computers in the house connected with no problem but this one would not authenticate. It is related to the security of the router since I connect if the router is unsecured. But if I try WPA or WPA2 it just tries and tries but what I find is that the encription key (AES or TRIK?) is missing. I have downloaded the driver from dell and reinstalled but it is still the same. I have used this for travel and at home for about 3 years and never had any trouble anywhere. What is going on?

ftoddbaker,

Start, control panel, device manager, network, double click on the Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Half Mini Card, then click on advanced. Look for antenna diversity. Change the antenna diversity from auto to aux.

Then click on power management tab. Uncheck the box, allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

I am still getting a message AES: Key Absent in Link Status in the WLAN Card Utility. Will not connect. This computer still connects with my old router, so it seems this may be a router issue, not a wifi card issue. I am still open to any suggestions.

ftoddbaker,

Try using these Recommended Wireless Router Settings, I use channel 11. I would make a new SSID to make connecting easier. Not all adapters like WPA-AES encryption.
