Have you tried restarting your computer? If you go into Device Manager and expand the listing for Network Adapters, does a wireless network adapter appear there?
Go to the following site and download the latest driver package for the Intel wireless card:

Don't install it yet. Now go into Device Manager, right clickt the Intel wireless adapter, and click on Uninstall. Reboot the computer, cancel the New Hardware Wizard, if it starts, then run the file you just downloaded to reinstall the drivers and the Intel Utility. Let me know if that fixes the problem.
Enter her service tag and then go to the drivers and download page should list all drivers revelant to her system..look under network .the Broadcom drivers are for the ethernet connection..
Dell has used various wireless adapters over the years on this system...
I had a similar problem with a 'problem applying profile' message. Couldn't connect using the Proset / wireless.
Was able to get windows to manage the Wi Fi and reconnect to look for a solution.
The solution provided by volcano 11 also worked for me.
