Proxy or Firewall Conflict
Anyone run into this before?
I am installing a utility used to configure my wireless router/modem/hub device. It requires all firewalls HW and SW to be turned off as well as all proxies shutdown. I have verified that ICS is turned off, de'installed my virus software and don't have any 3rd party proxies running. Yet when I try to install the UTILITY program, it still tells me to disable my firewalls and/or proxies, reset and retry. I know the device is OK because I have gotten it to work on another machine that is connected to the network.
Any thoughts as to what's running, something in the registry or where I should look to find the conflict?
thanks..ji

What utility are you trying to install (name, manufacturer)? What operating system are you trying to install it on? What wireless router device (manufacturer, model number) are you trying to configure?

Its a Microsoft Microsoft MN-700 wireless broadband router. The utility comes with the router. Its the Microsoft Broadband Networking V2.0.
The computer I am trying to install on has the following:
--- -------- ---------------------------------------------
1 221-3504 Inspiron 8600,Pentium M, 1.7GHz,15.4 in WUXGA
1 462-5976 1GB,DDR,333MHz, 2 Dimms,Inspiron 8600
1 320-2902 128MB ATI Mobility Radeon 9600PRO Turbo Video Card, Inspiron 8600
1 340-9638 80GB Ultra ATA Hard Drive for Inspiron 8600
1 340-8972 No Floppy Drive Option, Inspiron
1 430-0509 Dell True Mobile 1400 Dual Band Internal (mini-PCI) WLAN
1 420-3235 Microsoft Windows XP Home, Inspiron
1 430-0493 Integrated 10/100 Network Card and Modem, Inspiron 8500
1 462-6079 4X DVD+RW,INSP8600
Thats about it. I have checked that ICS is not checked anywhere and have completly de-installed the 90day McAffee Virus software for now. I just can't figure out what is giving the install wizard for the MS Broadband utility the indication that a proxy or firewall is running.
Thanks....ji

Did you disable the XP firewall?

(edit) You might try searching Google using the exact error message produced by the Microsoft utility. I just tried the search string Microsoft Broadband Networking proxy firewall conflict. The best match was, unfortunately, this thread!
