RE: Limited or No Connectivity

Everytime my laptop is rebooted or brought out of sleep mode, the wireless connection has limited or no connectivity. I have to keep disconnecting and reconnecting. Everything is configured right and up to date. I have also noticed that sometimes after connecting to my router that it will crash. Again, everything is configured correctly. I would break out the standard reply of so many posters that "it's VISTA, VISTA stinks go back to XP," but I see you already have XP.

Have you updated to the latest drivers? When you first wake up your system how long do you wait until you disconnect and reconnect? On my laptop, for some reason, I wake it up from sleep and it can take 1 or 2 minutes for my wireless to find my network and connect. It'll sometimes sit there saying IDENTIFYING NETWORK....LOCAL ONLY, then after a couple minutes it says connect to "(MY NETWORK NAME)"

Of the 3 wireless computers I have, my Inspiron E1705 is the only one that does not connect almost immediately. My Toshiba and XPS have no connection problems.

Make sure the Power Management settings on the wireless are set to always provide full power.  To do this, open Device Manager, expand the listing for Network Adapters, right click the wireless adapter, and select Properties.  Click on the advanced tab and set Minimum Power Consumption to Disabled, and set the Power Save mode to Disabled.  Let us know if this fixes the problem.
