reformatting?
I have a desktop computer that i had special ordered from Dell.....recently somehow it managed to get a virus from something, so my internet company has quarantined my internet use, until it is fixed.....they say i need to get my computer reformatted.....is there a way i can do that myself???? im a poor college student and need some!!
A friend had tried to reformat it for me, but i guess i need my windows xp DISC in order to do so.....my computer did not come with a CD for windwos, b/c it was already prgrammed when i got it.
Would i be able to buy the new windows vista, and just reformat it with that?? or do i need something else??? im so confused, and need to know what can be done!! thanks for ur help!!!:smileysad:

Your question really has little to do with Network/Internet/Wireless. For future reference, and, if you don't get a usable answer on this forum, you should post on the Software - Windows XP forum. In fact, at the top of that forum is a set of FAQs that would answer just about all of your questions. You don't say which model computer you have, but most Dell computers shipped recently have the PC-Restore function that would restore your computer to the same software environment it had when you first received it. Information about this feature is in the FAQ at the top of the Software - Windows XP forum. You would also find those same FAQs an answer to your question about how to obtain a Windows XP CD if one did not ship with your computer.
