Remote Desktop

I have two computers; A Dell Laptop and a Dell Desktop. They are connected to the same DSL modem and I want to remote desktop the desktop so I do not need a monitor. I can do this now with some 3rd party software but I want to use windows software.
-The host is running XP Pro.
-The client is running XP Home.
I have the IP address for the host and when I go to connect an error message apperears.
"The client could not connect to the host computer. Remote connections might not be enabled or the computer might be too busy to accept new connections. It is possible that network problems are preventing this connection."
I have set up the host to accept remote connections, I believe so. I can't see what is wrong. One thing though is that when setting up it said i need a loggon password. I am using the administrator account and it has the generic password. Do i need to change this? cange useers? Any help would be appreciated. Back to trying to connect again. Thanks

Try this:  Did you setup a work group first?, you need to do that first so the machines know each other, in the remote area, you can select remote users, play around with that.

I had the same issue, determined the problem had to do with the XP home box, once I had two XP Pro machines in the room the RDP connection was painless.

just make sure that both pc are in the same workgroup so they can meet... then you can control the other pc remotely... since you know the IP address try to ping each other first just to double check if those two pc are in the same network/workgroup...

I solved my problem. I was trying to connect using my Public IP address but i needed to find my Private IP address. Using the prompt console. (typed cmd into run) and then typed (ipconfig) to find the IP. After that everything worked fine! Thanks to the replies
