remote replication agent?

For the past few weeks I have noticed my Inspiron has been communicating with the network router about once per second, even when I am doing nothing. My firewall console says "Firewall allowing Generic Host Process for Win32 Services to access [wireless router] port 5678 (Remote Replication Agent Connection) over tcp."

This does not seem to be doing anything bad, but at the least it is annoying. I don't remember it doing this before. I cannot find anything about the RRA on either Google or Microsoft except for one program that synchronizes with Windows CE (which i do not have).

I can stop the access by shutting down the most active svchost.exe process in TaskManager, but then I cannot access my shared files over the network.

Does anyone know anything about this process? Is it bad? Can it be stopped? I fear a virus but both virus and antispy scans turn up nothing.

Most likely nothing at all, run spybot and Adware Adwatch/ Adware anti-spy or windows anti-spy to make sure. Oh yeah, dont use Norton to check, i see it as spyware itself considering it slows your comp down and internet not to mention anoyying message pop-ups.But to answer your question shortly, i think your safe.

Thanks for your input. I'm glad you agree that it doesn't seem malicious. At best it is annoying. I don't like things going on that I don't know. And I am curious because I can't find any information about the RRA.
