Resetting router

On occasion (it varies) when surfing the net, my browser (Firefox) just seems to "lockup"------bottom of page states "waiting for blah-blah website". At this point, I remove power from my router (reset) and connect again after a few seconds. Sometimes this works then sometimes I have to restart the computer and reset the router----I'm good to go----back to normal. Yesterday this occurred several times----today it has NOT occurred even once. It may happen several times a day----1 or 2 times a day or none at all for a few days. I've read on the net that other's have this same problem or may have with one brand of router and not another brand. It seems that it occurred more often when I had cable internet; but, it still occurs with my DSL. Both my puters are "hardwired" and I'm using a US Robotics Model 8001 router. I've considered buying and trying another brand router. Is this something that's just inherent with certain routers?

You might want to consider running a test at DSL Reports with Dr TCP/IP and see if your MTU settings need to be adjusted.
