router connect/disconnect problem

Hi.  I'm having trouble with my router.  It seems to be "disconnecting" from the internet periodically.  By that I mean, I can use the internet for 5 minutes or so, then all of the sudden I don't have a connection anymore.  Then, after waiting a few minutes, it comes back on again.  I know it's not my ISP because I contacted their support line and they said everything on their end was working properly (Including the modem.)  Would anyone know what the problem is?  Thanks.

P.S.  I have tried 2 different routers and the problem still occurs.  One was a Linksys, and the other was a Microsoft.

Ok, I directly connected my computer to the modem and I am still getting the problem.  So what would this mean?

Do other computers connecting through the same router exhibit the same problem?  Does the problem occur if you connect directly to the modem?  Do you live in an area recently affected by Hurricanes Katrina or Rita?

Yes there is another computer running through the router that has the same problem.

I haven't tried connecting directly to the modem, I'll do that right away.

No, I do not live close to those zones.

It means that there is either a problem with your modem or with your isp.
