First of all the 1394 connection is your firewire card, and, although it is listed as a network device, is not really a network device as far as connecting to the internet is concerned.  Next, whenever you change the connection between the dsl modem and the computer or router, you should completely reset the modem, router, and computers, by turning everything off, then powering on the modem first, followed by the router, and then the computers.  If this doesn;t correct the problem, then the fact that you cannot connect to the internet through the router with either ethernet or wireless suggests that the router is not communicating with the dsl modem.   Are you getting an IP address from the router (it should be in the range 192.168. xxx.xxx).  If so, you should be able to go into the router's configuration program by opening a web browser and typing http://192.168.1.1 into the address bar.  Once in the router configuration utility, you should be able to check the status of the router and see if it is getting an IP address from your dsl modem that is consistent with one assigned by your ISP.   If the proper PPPoE protocols are running on the router and it is not dialing in and getting an IP address, then it is further proof that the router is not working.
