routers and adapters(desktop)

i bought a wireless router from dell(linksys) i bought 2 desktop pc adapters,wondering if i need both adapters or just one. my moms computer is going to be hooked up to router.i was thinking that only my computer needed a wireless adapter or does my moms need one too? please advise....thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

both my computer and my moms have a network card in them,so im assuming i dont need any asdapters for the wireless router is this correct?

yes my moms puter has an ethernet card in it.so i hook the ethernet cablke to her modem and to one of the lan ports?

Not the modem, but the LAN port (also ethernet or NIC or RJ-45).  Read up at these sites so you can impress Mom:

You should hook the WAN port of the router to the cable modem, and hook the Ethernet port on your Mom's computer to one of the LAN ports on the router. The idea is that both computers can share access to the Internet via the cable modem through the router.

Here's a  diagram from HomeNetHelp.com illustrating that setup.

Does your Mom's computer already have an Ethernet card in it? If it does, you can use that to connect to one of the LAN ports on the Linksys.

Another point of interest. if your mom's computer is close to your own computer then, I would run ethernet cable from your computer to a port on the back of the router then you can file and printer share your mom computer, along with internet access. If your computer isn't close to your mom's computer, the I would get a USB adapter, its quick and painless to setup.. I think Dell sells a USB G adapters if you bought the 2300 router.
