RPC Server is unavailable

Question

Took my computer off of a router and now it connects directly to the modem.  however, i am getting this error message when trying to connect.  says it can't renew my IP and that the RPC server is unavailable.  Tried to uninstall/reinstall MS Client but can't.  do i need new drivers?  Cable service will not help (says it computer problem).

I could possibly be you TCPIP is not able to resolve a DNS or NetBIOS. Try to check your TCPIP settings. Also if its not connected to router anymore you need to remove the Gateway as well in TCPIP.

Power down everything and then power up the modem and give it a couple of minutes to stabilize and gain a signal. Then power up the PC and I think you will be okay.  Are you running a firewall?
