Scan to Type on Document

Question

I have an Inspiron 8200, Windows XP Home, Lexmark X85.  Trying to scan a document into my computer so that I can type on the document(filling in blanks) and then email the finished product.  When I scan to a file in My Documents, it is handled by Dell Image Expert Picture and of course when I open it , I cannot type on the lines.  If I right click on the file and try to change it to open with Microsoft Word, then Word page comes up with the blue border and task bar blinking continuously with no document appearing.  Figure it needs to be in Word to even have a chance at working on the document.  I've had this system for 13months and believe I've done it before but maybe some program I was allowed to use expired some period after purchase. Another Question. What is happening when the Word border goes into its blinking problem. No problem typing a letter, but the indication described has happened before.

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

This question does not belong in this forum. I imagine the reason that you cannot add information to a scanned document is because the document is scanned as a picture. You will need to scan the document as text so that you may then place the document into a word processing program so that you can make additions to it. You may want to repost your question regarding Word into the Microsoft Office forum.

Thanks Bob-T for setting me straight. I will post it on the Office Forum and see if there's any specific ideas.  I would remove the question from this forum if I knew how.  So, anyone has my permission to remove the this post as well as my other on on 2-28-03 which has been on way too long. Thanks, Bill D.
