selecting from available wireless networks

Question

How do I know which wireless network my system is using? How do I select a specific connection for browsing and email when I have more than one available?.  I have two wireless networks available and they both show in the list of Preferred Networks in the Wireless Connection Properties window. Is it the one that appears first on the list? How do I 'force' use of one versus another? I have been at hotels with wireless networks, the laptop detects it with an excellent signal strenght but I can not browse nor send/receive emails. Sometimes I work next to my wireless router (Dell) and I can make a wired connection from the router to the laptop. However, the system continues to use the wireless network. How do I set it up to use the wired connection? Thank you!

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

Please specify which router you are using. Generally, you need only disable the wireless card on your computer and connect the wired connection.
