Setting up a serial connection

Question

I am using the file transfer wizard with a file transfer cable. During the set up I am supposed to autodetect to select the serial port setting. This is not working on either computer. How do I select the serial port settings. My desktop has COM1 in the drop down and my laptop has COM3 in the drop down.......

Control Panel -> System -> Hardware tab -> Device Manager -> Ports -> Communications Port Change the properties in there.
