On further research on Comcast, I assume they would supply the modem for a monthly rental fee. If you would rather save the monthly cost and buy a modem, here is the list of approved modems.
You will find that searching the approved list, some of the modems already have a wireless router built in. I use this setup and suggest it to others as it makes things much easier in the long run, and cuts the cost of needing a modem and also a wireless router. I use the Linksys WCG200 which is on the approved list that works very well.

Hello,
Did they say wireless "Router" or "Modem". Or did they tell you that you needed a cable modem 'and' a wireless router?
