I am always amazed that Dell continues to send the buggy software with this router.  You do not need the software.  Read the manual and see how to use the web based configuration utility.  Again, you do not need the software.

Take the CD out of your computer, place it on the desk beside you and place your drink on it....it makes a nice coaster, other than that, you don't need it.....

Before you start, unplug the power to your DSL modem, this gives the modem time to reset before connecting to router...connect your computer via lan cable to router then connect the DSL modem to the router internet and plug the power into the modem and to the router.

Bring up the internet explorer and type the router address (192.168.2.1) into the address bar, this will access the router web interface (user name and password are 'admin').  From here you can configure the router to connect to your DSL modem.

More importantly than the statements that you do not need it is the fact the utility looks for the 2300 router at the wrong IP address - how stupid is that and it is still included in the box with the router.

Many thanks to forum participants for their accurate advice. A note: even following the online manual is error-prone, since it advises to point the browser to my.router, rather than to the router's IP address. Of course, the browser cannot find www.my.router. Anyway, that CD is truly useless. Dell, do something about it!

Thanks,

If you just use my.router that should work - never heard that it addressed www.my.router!!
