No, there is no way around this. Windows XP will not allow sharing of the Windows folder, the Program Files folder, or any folder under the Documents and Settings folder except the All Users\Documents folder (which is the same as the Shared Documents folder). If you need to access to any file under these folders you will have to copy (not move) them to either the Shared Documents folder or another folder that Windows XP will allow to be shared. Copy the files will leave the originals in their proper place and will not make "all the programs inoperable". If you move the files, however, you could make some programs inoperable.
