Should wireless be disabled when I connect via ethernet?

There are occasions when I am in a location that has wireless and ethernet connections available. If I'm close enough to the plug, I usually opt to hardwire in thinking that I should get the fastest connection that way - however I have always wondered whether there is any benefit from disabling the wireless connection when I hard-wire.

Could someone answer that and let me know if I should bother disconnecting the wireless or if there is an advantage to having the wireless and the ethernet connected.

Thanks in advance.

You want to disable wireless when you are wired. There is a driver setting in the Advanced tab to do just this.

Wireless B is 11mbps. G is 54mbps. Both are shared among all users of that access point. Wired is usually 100mbps.

If you have both up, you're leaving it up to Windows' routing table to decide which port to send your packets out.

The easiest way to disable the wireless is to use the FN+F2 key. To re-enable the wireless again FN+F2. This toggles the wireless on and off.
