Signal/connection present, no wireless!

Yet another wireless issue.  I've read posts from here and other sites regarding wireless issues, partiicularly with the issue of a connection that is present, full signal strength, but no access.  (Webpage won't open.)  When tethered to ethernet, yes, connection works fine.  I've disabled the firewall, rebooted, checked for driver updates, (none), and followed all other advice found.  This is a brand new Latitude D620 that has NEVER worked wirelessly for more than five minutes.  Interestingly, I also have a one-year old Inspiron 600m, running EX Pro, that has the same exact wireless issue.  The Insprion wireless issue began immediately after installing SP2, which is what the Latitude came pre-installed with.  So, it seems it is an SP2 issue, and I think, must be related to a security software conflict, since the signal indicates it is working. I have spent HOURS UPON HOURS, AND DAYS UPON DAYS WITH THIS ISSUE.  PLEASE, has anyone solved this?????

Just because they show the same symptoms doesn't mean they have the same problem.  To help sort it, on each computer, go to Start > Run and type cmd then click OK. In the command prompt window that opens, type ipconfig /all then hit the enter key. Write down the output from this command or select it and save it to a txt file, then copy this output into a reply to this message.  Be sure to indicate which output if for which computer.   With this information way may be able to figure out the problem.  Also be sure to tell us the make and model of the wireless card in each computer and make and model of the router.

I need you to run this while the computer is trying to make a wireless connection.  The output doesn't if show the presence of a wireless network adapter.  Uplug the ethernet cable and when you are are in the vicinity of the wireless router you are trying to connect to, run the command again and post the results.

Yes, it shows up in Device Manager, and it says it's working properly; and yes, it shows up in Network Conn as well.  Could it be disabled in the BIOS, and still show in those places?  How do I check whether the adapter is enabled in the BIOS?

The output doesn't show the presence of a wireless network adapter.  Does it show up in Device Manager?  Does it show up in Network Connections?  Is it possible that it is disabled in the BIOS?

To get into the BIOS restart your computer and hit the F2 key immediately after it starts back up.   There should be a screen where you can set your wireless options.  Make sure that the MiniPCI slot is enabled.
