sim card socket

del inspiron 1525 vista 32 bit (1525 with webcam)

 

I have a socket behing the batt for a sim card to go into  but  when i put a vodafone sim in it is not detected i dont think i have the driver

i have looked on dells website for the driver but dont know what to down load for it  any help any one ? also what is this socket called ?

 

just got a dell insiron mini 9 that has the same socket and that works  oh  and its xp mini not the unbuntu one

so i guess my dell  1525 should work too

This is a user to user forum, so the vast majority of the answers are going to come from other users of the forum and not from Dell representatives.

To answer your question, the socket is a sim socket, as you had guessed.  There isn't really a driver for it, unless you failed to install the Dell Notebook System Software after an OS reinstallation.  If you installed the Notebook System Software, and the socket is enabled in the BIOS, then it should work just fine.
