Slow internet problems

I have been having a lot of problems with a very slow internet. I have wireless connection and it always says I have an excellent connection, however, I sometimes have to double click to get the page to come up and I am constantly refreshing my connection. It often freezes and I have to shut internet down and reopen it. I don't know what kind of information I need to supply to get some answers: I have an Inspiron B130, bought in January 2006. Thanks for your help, Erika

do you have anti-virus and ant-spyware programs running, good anti-virus programs are norton or mcafee, and an excellent spyware program would be ad-aware. if not I would highly suggest having those, another program that I highly recommend would be ccleaner.

I forgot to mention I have ZoneAlarm and before that Norton Spyware. I have never had a virus, I defragment regularly and I just cleaned my cache yesterday. It is even slower today and I want to chuck my Dell out the window

Hi...

Was it ever fast enough? Have you done a speed test? Have you asked your internet provider about it? Could be the radio may need new firmware or something like that.

I have been having the same problem lately.   But tonight I think I finally found the solution.  I was almost positive it was the Dell wireless card - but at the last minute I finally found the solution.

Try this...it seemed to work for me:

Get the totally free ccleaner at www.crapcleaner.com and be SURE that before you scan your computer  - run ccleaner and set OPTIONS, ADVANCED, Only delete files in Windows Temp folders are older than 48 hours is UNCHECKED .

You will lose all of your cookies, and temp files, and history and other stuff.  But I use that program 2x a week - at least.  It's a great program to help speed up your computer and  to make it speed like up like new.  And it rids your hard drive of tons of speed robbing files and viruses too.  No other scanner found this problem, because whatever - it was it was not classified as a virus or trojan horse; it was just another Temp file.

Try it - and report back to the forum here. My computer is working beautifully now.

I had been using ccleaner for years on my desktop - but on my laptop, I forgot to uncheck that option - and it took me 3 days to figure it out.

W O R K I N G  A G A I N !!
Dont blame Dell.
