Software method to turn on Wireless?

I sometimes work where there are weak signals, so I bought and installed a USB antenna booster (Hawking Model HWU54DM). Works great, but at my house I have good signal strength so I don't need it. But now when I try to connect without plugging in the antenna, Windows (XP Pro SP2) tells me that it 'cannot configure this wireless connection' and I need to 'start the Wireless Zero Configuration (WZC) Service'. I contacted Hawking who said that to use the computer's wireless I have to press a button on the MB to turn it on, then do the same to turn it off when I want to use the USB antenna. That means removing two screws from the access panel, etc. I have checked the BIOS and wireless is ON. I have checked device manager and wireless is enabled and apparently functioning properly.   Any ideas on a way to use the built-in wireless when I want to without having to un-install the Hawking and re-configuring?   My system is: Inspiron 6000 XP Pro SP2 Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG   Many Thanks!

Have you tried using the Fn F2 key combination to toggle the wireless radio on and off? Steve

Is the Intel PRO/Wireless client installed?  Make sure it is set to let Windows manage your wireless connections.
