Status: Not Associated

The Dell wireless WLAN card utility in my taskbar says that it's "not associated". The laptop works well with my Linksys wireless network, but I'm curious as to what this means. I THINK it means that Windows XP is managing the network connection and not the Dell WLAN card utility.

I'm totally new to networking and am trying to figure some of this stuff out. Thanks.

Is Windows managing your wireless connection or is the utility managing the wireless connection.  If Windows is managing the wireless connection, then it is normal for the icon to show "Not Associated".

Thanks Volcano11. Windows must managing the wireless connection because the box  beside "Let this tool manage your wireless setting", is NOT checked in the Dell WLAN utility.
