Studio 1558- Network Controller Issue

Question

After re-installing windows 7, WIFI feature doesn't function. Under [Device Manger] I can see Network Controller has an exclamation mark next to it, I tried updating driver software manually on Dell.com and by right-clicking [Network Controller], but neither worked. I used DBAN to wipe out my system.

I also have other issues that I didn't experience until reinstalling includes: Synaptic touchpad (using fingers to magnify, scroll, etc.) and while I'm typing, the cursor jumps around sometime forward or backward if there is something written in the following lines.

OS: Windows 7 Home Premeium

When you reinstalled the operating system, did you install the Desktop/Notebook system software(if applicable) and the chipset drivers first? If not, the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order

Start with the Desktop/Notebook system software and the chipset drivers and follow the list.

Thank you for your reply, Rick. Yes, I did download the drivers in order Dell listed. However, I can delete them and try installing them. How do I go about deleting driver software?  I haven't done deleting drivers previously, would you mind helping me out?!

pink_freesia,   Start withnthe Dell System Software and the chipset drivers and follow the list. The Dell System software and the chipset drivers know what is attached to your system.     Rick

I have downloaded all the drivers in the order listed in How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order. However, I still have the same problems: no keyborad on/off  for wifi, no network controller driver, cursor jumping around while typing, and no zoom-in/out function in the touchpad.

no keyborad on/off for wifi = Dell QuickSet(under applications)

no network controller driver = Your network adapter(under network)

cursor jumping around while typing, and no zoom-in/out function in the touchpad = Touchpad drivers(under Input)

Under network, there are too many drivers so I don't know which one you are referring:

1. Intel(R) WiFi Link 6200 | Intel(R) WiFi Link 6300 | Intel (R) WiMAX Link 6250 | Intel (R) WiFi Link 6250

2. Wireless WLAN 1501 Half Mini-Card (4313bgn)

3. Wireless 1520 802.11n MiniCard WLAN for Desktops

4. RTL8111DL Ethernet Controller

And also two other applications are listed:

1. ASSY,CRD,NTWK,BLTH,365,DT,2 | Wireless 365 Bluetooth Module

2. Wireless WLAN 1510 Half MiniCard (4322) | ANT,CBL,WRLES,USFF,780 | Wireless WLAN 1397 Half MiniCard (4312bg) | CDSK,DRVR,NTWK,WRLES,WW,M09

So I'm assuming this driver will take care of all "input"?!

The other one liste is an application file.

I downloaded Quickset file. However, I still have the same problem. Should I go back and start from the Dell System Software again?

pink_freesia,   Go to Dell Warranty Status enter your service tag number, click on system original configuration. It will be listed there which wireless adapter you have installed.     Rick
