But you don't know if it will automatically select the faster connection?

i would just go to control panel > network connections..

in there, you'll see both your ethernet connection and wireless connection.. if you want to use one, just right-click on the other one and select disable.. it'll disable that one and use the other connection.. vice versa.

I work in a similar setup, with an 8600 and wireless DSL router.  When I connect my laptop to the router via Ethernet cable (rather than using the wireless connection), applications appear to use the higher-speed Ethernet connection instead of the wireless connection.  You may need to renew the network adapter configurations (ipconfig /renew) or reboot the laptop to ensure this functionality.

whenever i plug in the ethernet cord, the computer automatically selects the cord over wireless.  I'm assuming the same would hold true for you.  But if your wireless connection is faster than the ethernet connection, then you'd have to disable the ethernet connection so your computer only sees the wireless.

You may choose the order of which connection is accessed first, if more than one is available. Start>Control Panel>Internet Connections>Advanced Tab>Advanced Settings. The top where it says "Connections" lists the order which available connections are accessed. The order may be changed by using the arrows directly to the right. There is nothing for fastest.
