Switching from dial-up to cable internet

Have 3 year old Dimension 4300.  Have decided to upgrade from dial-up (DSL not available in my area yet.).  Got the cable company's self-install package with their external modem & connectors.  However, there is no Ethernet plug on the back of my tower.  Is the proper fix to purchase a PCI adapter (32 bit/FA311) & then open my tower & plug in the card?

Yes, assuming that you are describing a network interface card (NIC) having an RJ-45 Ethernet port on it.

Thank you, JackShack!!!  I'm responding to you via my now-working internet cable connection.  Having to crack open my tower & install an NIC was way beyond the computer skills I ever wanted to learn.  But having done it, it wasn't that difficult a task.  I appreciate your encouragement.  The simple "Yes" was sufficient.
