You would be best advised that the Dimension - Network forum is not the best place to post a software question like this.  If the following doesn't help, then you should post either in the Software - Windows XP fourm - http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board?board.id=sw_winxp or, if you really suspect that you have a virus, in the Virus/Spyware Information and Removal forum - http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board?board.id=si_virus
 
Both of these forums get a lot more traffic than does the network forum and you will have a better chance of solving the problem, if a wider variety of users see your message.
 
The System Restore database often becomes corrupt and the only solution is to disable System Restore, reboot, then re-enable System Restore.  Of course this results in the deletion of all previous restore points, but it is a moot matter anyway because System Restore will not work with a corrupt data base.
