System Restore
Hi there Im trying to fix a Dell Dimension 4600 computer for a friend of mine, they switched over from AOL to Comcast and not deleting all the AOL stuff beforehand. The owner of the pc called comcast, and the tech support there said they couldn't even read a port but that everything was fine on their end. This pc had a few wardialers on it which I have since removed. I have also uninstalled AOL from the add/remove and removed some AOL stuff from the registry. IE won't work. The modem from comcast lights up just fine. But when you type in yahoo.com it wont display and the address reads as res: something or other.(Im at home and do not have the dell here) My first question is this: Do Dell computers come with system restore disks?(Ive already tried the system restore from the start menu and it wont go through) They have a few disks which are the modem/the burner software and drivers/ the ms os drivers service pack are these what I am to use? I didn't try to ipconfig yet, last reading was still AOL's ip addy. Is there anything I haven't checked. Is there a certain order I have to use the discs in? Can anyone help or offer more advice asap. This will be greatly appreciated.

If the computer was shipped after July 15, 2004, it has a hidden partition with an image on it that can be used to restore the system to it's orignal configuration.

If shipped before that date, then it should have come with a CD titled something like Reinstallation of Windows XP.
