Tapi complatible modem?

From what I can see, doing a google search and looking at some new Dell's the modem is only data/fax, not a voice modem.

Did you get a microphone with the new PC?  If not that is another clue as my modem (not the Intel modem you reference) is a voce/data/fax modem and Dell shipped a microphone with the new PC.

The intel 537 modem is a voice modem.  Click here to view Intel's product literature on this modem.  I was not able to find much info on Dell's site about this particular modem.

Thanx, I been trying to look for the TAPI drivers, i been looking for it on Google's, Yahoo, Alta Vista with any combination of keywords. If you could tell me about a site that i might find it, or another way to find it, please, let me know :)

The Intel 537 modem driver is a TAPI compliant driver.  If you are trying to use the modem as an answering machine or a voice mail system, you will need to use a program like BVRP Phone Tools which may well be included on the modem driver CD.

If the name of your modem is "Intel(R) 537EP V9x DF PCI Modem", then it is not a voice modem.  The name of the voice modem is slightly different "Intel(R) 537EP V9x DFV PCI Modem" - note the "V" in "DFV" (Data-Fax-Voice).  Both modems are TAPI complient.  The voice modem supports speakerphone and telephone answering machine functionalities.

If you have a purchased a voice modem with your Dell PC, then you will likely have BVRP Phonetools installed on your PC or at least you will have received a CD with BVRP phonetools.
