What Internet service provider do you have? Do they provide a specific list of instructions on how to set up a Dial-Up connection for use with their service? If they have a CD with connection software, try reinstalling that CD on your system.

I use NetZero.  It requires the dial up adapter.

Problem started with a VX2.DLL error that would not allow me to use Explorer and Internet Explorer.  I used the Dell Solution Center to diagnose the problem and it suggested that I remove all the Network adapters and restart windows.  It did not work.  Some one on the Dell Community Forum suggested that I download the latest version of Ad-Aware and run it.  That solved the Explorer problem.  Now I cannot connect through my modem to the internet.  I can connect through my networked laptop.

Is TCP/IP Dial Up Adapter for the network or for the Modem or both?

I solved the problem.  I went into Control Panel and went into Add/Remove Programs - double clicked the Communications and the Virtual Private Network was not checked.  I checked the box and it added the Tcp/Ip Adapter to the the network and that solved the problem.

Thanks for your help.

Hope this helps anyone with a similar problem.
