Terminal program times out

We run Eterm to log into our database. On the workstations it's not issue. But we have several Dell laptops, mostly D620s and an Inspiron 600m, that will drop the connection every 10 to 15 minutes. I have turned off the setting allowing Windows to shut down the network card, updated the drivers and software and even tested with wired keyboards and mice compared to wireless. None of the other brands of laptops have this issue. Has anyone else seen their network drop offline like this? Do you know of any other settings that could shut down the network cards I have not thought of? Thanks Cec

Although you note other PC's work OK  I've seen cases of PC emulation software (e.g. 3270 emulation) not working like a regular "workstation" (e.g. a regular 3270 terminal) will work.  In the 3270 case, it's basically a "dumb" terminal and always on, where a PC emulation program may not work that way.  If there's an "always on" or connected option in the emulation software try that, to make sure it "talks" to the servers all the time.

Just a thought from a retired Network and Help Desk Manager.

Not in this program. Basically, Eterm has been coded to word specifically with our database and runs fine on most of the computers, both desktop and laptop. If these three machines sit idle though. The connection drops (or seems to). The screen doesn't show the problem until you try to go back and do something. Until then you still see the screen you're in as though it's connected. Once you choose a key (say F2 as an example) the program tries to run, can't seem to make a connection, then the screen drops and you get a screen asking if you want to reconnect.
