To which computer is the printer connected? On that computer, you have to go to the Printers folder, right click on the printer and select Sharing from the drop-down menu. Then give the printer a sharing name. On the other computer, give the computer time to look at the network and see if the printer now shows up in the Printers folder. If it doesn't, select the icon to Add Printer. Specify that it is a newtwork printer, then browse to find the printer on the network.

On the computer the printer is installed on, go to the start bar and select printers and faxes. Right click the printer you are wanting to use on the network and select sharing. Ensure that sharing over the network is selected (you probably don't need to use microsoft's wizard) and ensure the printer has a name. On the computer you wanting to acces the printer from, go to my network places. Click on view workgroup computers and hopefully you will find the computer which has the printer attached to it. If you do not find it, it may be on another work group and you will have to find it under microsoft windows network (which should be listed under other places on the left hand of the window or accessible by going up a level) or you will not find it under the windows network. If you do not find it, your network may not be configured right. If you do find the computer's icon, double click on it. Open that computers printer and faxes folder over the network, and double click on the printer's name that you want to print to over the network. That should install it on your computer. (Alert us of any other problems or if this did not work well).
A network bridge can be set up to use the computer to share interenet connections between two connections and other computers. You probably will want to unbridge your connections.

If you are running the WIN XP operating system on both computers, You shouldn't need to install software on the laptop. It should automatically install. One problem with this type of install is that the computer connect to the printer must always be on in order for printing to occur. If you got a prinserver (sometimes expensive - dependings though) you could print with only the laptop on.
Back to your problem, do you have a router? If so, are both computers getting an IP address (if they both get internet they should both have an IP). Are you using a router with a built in AP or with a seperate AP? Do you have the file and printer sharing protocol installed in your laptop wireless network configuration and your wired connection for your other computer? Also be sure netbios is installed on both computer connections, this is so they can see each other and share files and printers.

As you can see with this connection Client for Microsoft networks, file and printer sharing for microsoft networks, QoS Packet scheduler (all of these are default in general) are installed. Internet protocol (TCP/IP) should be installed also (again usually its installed by default). If you do not have NWLink Net Bios installed, you can click on install, select protocol in the popup box and choose net bios.
It sounds like both computers should be in the same work group, but if you want to double check, right click on my computer, select properties, Go to computer name tab, and it should list the workgroup name.
This should resolve networking issues some.
Make sure your printer is shared on the network and follow the rest of the instructions i sent before - it should work. if not, where does the problem occur?

Then, mshome is the name of your workgroup. But, is everything that I mentioned earlier installed in the wireless connection of your laptop and the Local Area Connection of the desktop?
I have a setup just like this at my home, but I have two wireless laptops that can print to a printer on a wired desktop.
Try this: on your desktop, right click on my computer, go to computer neame, and note the name of the computer.
Go into my network places on your laptop. In the address bar in my network places type \\desktop_computer_name (but replace the desktop_computer_name) with the actual name of your desktop. Give it a couple of minutes and you should see the shared items from you desktop on your screen. The printer should be visible here if it is shared properly, or in the printers and faxes folder. If you do not see anything you either have nothing shared from your desktop or you do not have your network set right.
One more though: if you have a firewall on your desktop make sure it is permitting the local area network.
Let me know how it goes.
