The most likely cause of the problem is a third party firewall (Norton, McAfee, Zone Alarm, etc.) that is not configured to all local network access.

Well, I was sure I had set that accordingly before I started, but when I doubled checked after your reply, nope, didn't stick.  I changed the settings and off and running.  Easy solution, thanx anyway ...
