On the computer with the problem, try booting to Safe Mode with Network Support. If you can connect that way, it tells you something running from normal startup is blocking the connection and you can take steps to remove that.
Most hotels have a security page that comes up and you must agree to for your computer to get Internet. It will connect but not to the Internet until you agree. Some hotels charge a fee that you must pay online also. After connecting, try opening your browser and see if the hotel's page comes up automatically.
I didn't get much time to do more investigations. I was giving a presentation, so I had to grab someone's XP PC, transfer my .ppt with a memory stick and move on.

It would be most helpful if you provided more detail. Did it or did it not connect when booted to Safe Mode with Network Support?

It wouldn't connect in the safe mode.
