TrueMobile 2300 - Web-based Configuration Tool

The User Guide says that that the Web-based Configuration Tool is accessed by entering http://my.router or http://192.168.2.1 into my browser's address bar. (Win XP, IE 6.0)

The response is
"Cannot find server
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.

etc. "

So, how does one access the router settings? I have a 2-computer network set up, which seems to work properly, and now I'm trying to add a DSL modem for internet access.

You can try my.router (my dot router)
Check the default gateway. That is the IP through which the router page is accessible.

That is exactly what I did - I tried both 'my.router' and the default gateway  (192.168.2.1) - with the result as described in my original post.  It did not bring up the Configuration Tool.

Are you trying to do this through a wired connection or a wireless connection?  If you are trying to do it through a wireless connection and your router or wireless network card are not properly configured to connect to the wireless network, then it won't work.  Always configure the wireless network through a wired ethernet connection.

Steve,

Thanks for the suggestion to try a wired connection - I am presently using wireless connection, but one of my two computers does have an ethernet card that I could try to connect with.

I believe that my wireless connections are properly configured to use the network - I can share files and printers between the two computers on my network.  BUT - on both computers the network shows as "limited or no connectivity".  I have been presuming that this refers to internet connectivity - which clearly I don't have until I can get my DSL modem associated with the network - not connectivity to the network itself because I have no problem sharing between the two computers across the network.

One other thing that perhaps I should have mentioned initially.  When I originally set up the network I was having this same problem - couldn't open the Configuaration Tool - when I wanted to change from an un-secured to a secured network.  Then on the 2nd or 3rd session of trying it somehow did open.  I have no idea what I did differently on that occasion than before or since, but I was able to open the Tool that one time and change the setting to a secured network (using WPA).

Does this additional information give you any further thoughts?

Thanks again.

Steve,

Wired connection does not alter the situation - still cannot access the Web-based Configuration Tool from my browser. It tells me that the addresses - my.router or 192.168.2.1 - cannot be found.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks.

Lets check one by one.
First check the status of the connection.
Control Panel - Network Connections - Right Click Wireless - Status - Support.
Check the Address Type, IP Address and Default Gateway.
If you get Limited or No Connectivity on that, check on another computer (Wired or Wireless) connected to the same router.
If the problem is same, the router might not be assigning a proper IP to the computers.
In that case, you will have to reset the rotuer and try to reconfigure it.

Thank you to all to offered suggestions on how to access the Web-based Configuration Tool.  I have finally found a way in from the TrueMobile Control Utility.  One of the tabs on the Control Utility screen is Advanced Settings, and on that page it gives the usual instruction to to enter 'http://my.router' into a browser address line - the action that has not worked for me.

But also on that page there is a button labeled 'CONNECT'.  Clicking on that button does launch the Web-based Confirutation Tool in a browser window.

Thanks again to all who responded.

Regards, JEff
