Truemobile/Inspiron 4150

I have an Inspiron 4150 (WIN XP-Home) and am looking into going wireless. I've spent hours on the internet trying to figure out what I need. I ended up emailing tech support asking them what I need. I was told that I needed a Truemobile 1150 802.11b wireless minipci card and that that was the ONLY card that would fit my system. Then I checked out this forum and I've heard the 1300 mentioned... some comments positive, some negative.  I'm also trying to figure out the pros and cons to PCMCIA as opposed to the minipci card.  I have a Westell DSL modem. Does anyone have any advice ... before I jump in and make a mistake?

Truemobile 1150 or 1300?
PCMCIA or MINIPCI?
Suggestions on Routers?

Any other words of wisdom from anyone with a 4150 would be greatly appreciated.

hi, agreed dlink or netcomm firewall/routers are good value, if you feel unconformtable installing the minipci unit from dell, you could always purchase a USB wireless adaptor for your laptop, although i haven't checked you would probably get better signal strength from the external aerial..but you would have to carry it around with you of course!

If you go mini-PCI (internal) then get the Intel 2200 wireless card.  As for a wireless router, get a D-Link or Linksys or Netgear, whichever is on sale the cheapest.  I personally like D-Link for the price/performance, but Linksys has better range and Netgear makes one that is more powerful (range).  Look here for a good tutorial.
