Trumobile 1350 problems

I reformatted a Dell Inspiron 9100 and installed Windows XP Pro on it.  I used the resource CD to install drivers for the NIC as well as other devices that the device manager didn't pick up on.  Unfortunately the wireless NIC still isn't working.  I run the diagnostic utility that came with the driver and this is what I came up with.

Microcode memory test failed.

This test verifies that the network controller internal memory is functioning properly.  The test writes patterned values to the memory and reading back the results.  The test fails if an erroneous value is read back.  The network controller will not function without its internal memory.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

I take it that the wireless worked fine before you upgraded. Either you have the wrong driver for the wireless nic, or the thing took a "memory dump". I'd check around to see if there is a firmware update that might help it work better with XP, or make sure that you have the latest driver for XP.

As a last resort, you could take it back to 98 just to be sure that it really isn't hosed, and then blame your problems on XP.

Hope this helps,

Brian
