For a computer to computer hookup you need an RJ-45 crossover ethernet cable for them to be able to talk.

yes, it is in fact an RJ-45 cross over cable.
So how do I get internet thru the host and share files??

yea!!

ok. it's a "SPACE SHUTTLE VERIFIED (UL) CAT-5 PATCH-CABLE ETL VERIFIED EIA/TIA-568A UTP 24AWG STRANDED CM E129760 CSA LL80671AWM IIA/B 80C 300V FT4" cable.

so i slip this thing into the back of my laptops and what magical thing will allow me to have the two communicate, you know like share files, get internet access? read forums, click links, try to figure out confusing networking pages..
