turning off bluetooth manually
hello everyone ...
i just UNinstalled the dell widcomm-bluetooth-software as it is a PITA under win xp sp2 (bluetooth-neighbourhood wont work, etc...)
windows xp recognized all the bluetooth-stuff and activated its own bluetooth-management.
BUT with the winxp-bluetooth-icon in the systray i cant disable the bluetooth-module in contrast to the widcomm-stack.
the blue bluetooth-led is turned on the whole time ... i dont want bluetooth to be activated when using wlan ...
my question:
are there any solutions to disable the bluetooth-module ?
i dont want to disable wlan AND bluetooth (e.g. FN+F2) as im currently using wlan ;)
yours,
kai

in german the item is called "bluetooth-netzwerkverbindung", so it is sth like "bluetooth-network-connection" or network-adapter or something...
if this item is disabled, it has no effect on the blue bluetooth-led and everything is still working...
i suppose this item in the network-and-dialup-control-panel is just a bluetooth-network profile/feature.
my problem is to deactivate/disable the whole module.
if doing it with FN+F2, about 6 bluetooth-relevant hardware-deviced do NOT show up in the hardware-manager anymore.
as if it were some usb-devices which are plugged out when hitting fn+f2 ...
im wondering how the widcomm-software manages to disable the module :(

kai

Hi I have the reverse problem on my XPS , It was disabled when I installed SP2 and now I can't turn it on is says use FN+F2 but all that does is diables the Wireless NWK back and forth. SP2 installed its Bluethoot verion and that wont detect a thing (obviously I have no bluelight on) checked the bios to make sure it was set to FN+ application still can't turn it on, this is very annoing since I sinc my P800 phone and use my headset when at a client ot to disturbe with my sound...

after installing, you may uninstall it but windows will keep the drivers, so windows will/should recognize the bluetooth adapter right after/during
the uninstallation of widcomm. if this auto-detection wont work, just try to find new hardware manually and install the driver packaged with the dell bluetooth software.
