Unable to Access a Web site

Hi,

Dimension E520, Windows XP s.p. 2, Norton Antivirus and internet security (that came with the system).

I am unable to access a Web site which I normally reach after logging on to another Web site. The computer is networked through a wired router; I am able to get to the web site in question with the other PC on the router (and with any other computer); With the Dell, I can only get to a sign-in page (as though I don't have an account).

I use Firefox 3.x and IE 6.x - both give the same results.

I do not know if this is a Windows issue, a norton issue or a Dell issue.

I have enabled cookies, pop-ups and tried to compare IE's (6.x) options (tools > internet options) with the other PC on the network.  I am not sure where to start.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thank you in advance

I can only wish you the best of luck trying to get an answer from Dell. I have Inspirion 1525 that I bought at Best Buy and still under warranty with Dell. They refuse to help me with this same problem and keep telling me to bring this back to Best Buy which i have done 3 times and 120 miles later and they could not figure it out and told me to call Dell. . This has been going on for 3 months. I am able to connect to wireless network but cannot browse internet at all, I also use firefox.  I have exhausted all my knowledge. Dell fixed my landlords over the phone using remote access although it cost her 250.00.  She did not have a warranty. I can only tell you what she told me and that is they went into safe mode and did some configuration  in there. Dell will not help you unless you pay.  I am totally upset with Dell and that I feel they do not stand by thier consumers.  If I hear you need to take it back to Best Buy one more time I am going to scream. it is funny how Dell use to advertise that they are there for you 24/7 with support. Well thats a line of Bull.   Good Luck and if you happen to find an answer please share as their are quite a few people out their with the same problem using Dell.

"it is funny how Dell use to advertise that they are there for you 24/7 with support.Well thats a line of bull".

What you DO NOT seem to understand,is that, purchasing a dell system from Best Buy,DOES NOT give you Dell support 24/7.You only recieve a limited 1 year Hardware Warranty, which does NOT include 24/7 support from Dell,or any other warranty of the product other than, the touchpad, keyboard, power supply and battery. If you require warranty and tech support, with a system purchased at Best Buy,you need to purchase Best Buys Geek Squad Warranty. This is not Dells fault.Nor is it a line of bull, you bought from best buy,not Dell.

Hi Amb63,

I don't know whether you have the same issue of not being able to access a specific web site (My post was not very clear). It was inability to access one specific Web site which required me to access another site first. (I could access the first site but the sign in credentials were lost trying to get to the second site....)

I have solved it - it was Norton Internet security 2007. Do you have Norton Internet security installed? If so which version?

I did not follow symantec's solution because the program did not have the same features but I can go through the steps if you want.

good luck
