Unable to access Internet or network

Question

This evening, I started up the computer but it did not connect to the internet or my network.  I have Windows XP SP2.  Everything was working fine yesterday and I have not installed any new software, hardware, drivers, nor have I performed any updates.  The internet connection is good and the router is good because I have connected the laptop directly to both and was able access the internet without a problem.   Anyone have any ideas of what to do?  I am totally lost on this.   Thanks.

Which model computer is it?  Which version of Windows?  Are you getting an IP address from your router?  Did you recently remove any spyware or viruses from your computer? Steve

I have Windows XP SP2 on a Dimension 4700.  I have not installed any new software recently or removed any spyware from my computer.  I have only had the computer for a month since I purchased it from Dell.

Try downloading and running winsockfix for Windows XP from the Here and if that doesn't work try lspfix from Here.   Steve
