unable to connect

hi

  i am unable to connect to the internet if i type the address of the particular site...........eg www.google.com

 But i am able to connect the same site while typing the ip address of the site eg

http://64.233.171.104/( for www.google.com)

Can someone tell me the  what be the resolution for this.

i have just bought the Inspiron 8600 home addition............

i am having this problem with AOL as well as with the high speed internet...

please help
