Unable to establish connection

Modem was working fine, now I get unable to establish connection. Reinstalled drivers for the BCM modem -no luck. Did trouble shooting, still no luck.

Dell promptly sent me a new Conexant D480 modem. Did the install and now I get:

               Device                                                         Results

*****************************************************************************

Conexant D480 MDC V92 Modem                           Failure

Any good Ideas appreciated. Heck I'll even entertain some not so good ideas.

In the Device Manager modem entry for your Conexant, when you open the properties and on that first tab page, there is a box giving status - what is the error code there?

The Conexant Failed to install so I have no code. Under Results it says Failure.

The Broadcom showed error 797 > modem not found.

Thanks John! Really appreciate any help.

On the lighter side; Dell email "help"pretty much stinks. They want me to show proof of purchase on the Conexant modem that they sent me under warranty. They really don't have a clue.

Here is all the forum info on that error:

Emailing Dell for help is totally worthless.  As you found out.

After reading, are you absolutely sure the modem they sent you was a Conexant one?  Could it have been the Conexant by Actiontec, in which case you'd need this driver?
