Unable to find other computers on network
I recently upgraded to a wireless internet connection. When the new internet was installed I had to reconfigure my Linksys wireless router (WRT54G) in order for all of my computers to have internet access. Prior to regonfiguring the router my network worked like a charm. Since then, both of our laptops which run WinXP (Linksys WPC54G cards) can swap files just fine but neither of them can access the PC which runs Win98 and is hooked directly to the router. The PC does not recognize that there is any other computers on the network. I have tried reinstalling all the drivers, setting up a second network using a different work group name, all the trouble shooting suggestions that I have found and all with no change. The people at the Linksys Tech Support simply told me that they could not help me with configuration problems. I am at a complete loss, all of my printers, main storage for back up ect. are on the PC. This is my first attempt at a network and I was really excited about getting it to work the first time out, but now I am lost and wandering with no access to my main files. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The main reasons that Windows XP and Windows 98/ME networks have trouble are due to the following:
1. Make sure all computers are in the same workgroup and have unique names on the network
2. Make sure all firewalls are disabled while setting things up. In particular make sure that Windows XP's built-in firewall is disabled on the local area connection.
3. Make sure the NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled on all computers.
4. Make sure the drives and folders have been designated as shared.
5. If the Windows 98/ME computers have Client for Microsoft Networks as the primary network logon, make sure that the proper username and password are entered when these machines boot. If Windows logon is the primary network logon, make sure that either a null password is used or that the correct password is used when booting these computers. Hitting the cancel button at the password prompt may prevent network connectivity.
Post back if none of this helps.

TIghtline,
Also make sure that the name of your Windows 98 machine on the network is 8 characters or less. And if you are running any software firewall on your 98 machine, make sure it is configured to allow sharing and that the IP addresses of the XP machines are in the "Trusted Zone" of your software firewall.

MemphisTF13......
Adding the IP of both laptops to the "Trusted Zone" granted me all around access.
You were both a great help, and because of your help I am only half bald!!!!
Thanks again

Thank you very much for the help, all is functioning great on my network.
Valcano11......
turning on NetBios on all 3 computers allowed my PC to find and access both of my laptops, but my laptops were still unable to access the PC.
Thanks Again!!

You're welcome. And thank you for posting the results. It helps others know what works and what doesn't.
